Lovely doing business with the talented Sam Groom Printmaker and Helen of Robin's Room. Both ladies are very talented printmakers and how different their styles are! I have made lampshades for them to sell through their own shops.

The sun was shining and I was stuck in doors busy making lampshades for last weekend's Mary's marvellous vintage and craft fair, Bramhall Lane, Sheffield. The sunshine hit me and I ran out doors to take some photos of 'Washi Cream' 25cm diameter lampshade. I've been making Washi for some time now, we're old friends, but our love was rekindled in the midday sun. When we move house and I can finally decorate my home and pick my own lampshades (I know!!) I will be making a large 60cm Washi shade to splash its colourful stripes across my dining room ceiling. Better stock up on fabric!

Yesterday I had a lovely day tutoring my first workshop hosted by the wonderful Running With Scissors. The workshop was fully booked and 8 hard working ladies all went home with a smile on their faces and a 25cm drum shade suitable for a ceiling or table lamp.

Finished and  boxed up my finished lampshades for the BBC program DIY SOS.
Designer Gabrielle Blackman picked this colouful fabric called 'Peacock Seaglass'. Two shades are for bedside table lamps, the smaller two are for the dressing table.

Excited about being contacted by the BBC tv show DIY SOS. They need some bespoke lampshades making for their show. Like most things on their show, it's a race against time. Lets hope I receive material quickly and can get the shades made and sent off before the deadline!

So, we're nearly at the end of another year. 2012 has been a fruitful one for Nightingale and lamp. This time last year I was only just starting out, dipping my toes in the water, so to speak. I had my daughter Tillie in June and my boy Herbie will be 3 in February. It's been full on with 2 small children but I've tried to give it my all and have received some lovely comments from so many people. 2013 will hopefully start with a load of networking: new shops, fabric samples, suppliers. I'm tutoring a workshop in February with Running with scissors, which I'm so excited about. Today I've been messing about with my website, I've messed up on some parts, but it's all part of the learning process. my new years resolution is to blog, blog, blog.
